RADIO MARTÍ: INFORMATION IS POWER.

THE FOUNDATION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS IN CUBA PRAISES RADIO MARTÍ’S CRUCIAL ROLE IN DEFENDING FREEDOM.

Miami, FL – March 19, 2025 – The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC) recognizes the vital work of Radio Martí, which have served as indispensable sources of uncensored news and information for the Cuban people for decades. These platforms have played a crucial role in supporting the Cuban opposition and ensuring that independent voices can be heard despite the island’s restrictive media environment.

Since its establishment, Radio Martí have stood as pillars of free press, breaking through Cuba’s state-controlled information blockade. By providing factual reporting on political, economic, and human rights issues, these platforms empower Cuban citizens with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions about their future.

“The work of Radio Martí is more important than ever,” said Tony Costa, President of the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba. “Cuba remains under the grip of a repressive regime that systematically silences dissent and restricts access to information. Martí’s broadcasts provide a vital lifeline to those who seek the truth and work to bring about democratic change.”

FHRC remains committed to advocating for press freedom in Cuba and stands alongside the brave journalists, activists, and independent voices who continue to fight for a free and open society.
