VICTIMS OF PROGRAM MORE DOCTORS IN BRAZIL SEEK COMPENSATION
The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC):
- Researched and compiled information and evidence since last year on the human trafficking practices by the Cuban government in the implementation of the Mais Médicos (More Doctors) program in Brazil. These practices reflect a modern form of slavery in which thousands of Cuban citizens have been “exported” by the regime with the complicity of other governments and international organizations.
- Made public today that it has granted legal support for the last ten months to those victims who decided to claim compensation by holding responsible in a court of justice the authors, accomplices, accessories, and facilitators of this international crime.
- Supports the decisions related to the Mais Médicos (More Doctors) program that were just announced by the elected authorities of the Federal Republic of Brazil, as well as the expressions of support that they have received from the United States government. After abolishing slavery 130 years ago, Brazil is again doing the right thing by ending the human trafficking of thousands of Cuban doctors.
- FHRC will release in coming days more details about this ongoing legal process and the possibility that new victims of the Mais Médicos (More Doctors) program may join it.
