Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has released their 2015 World Press Freedom Index, where once again, Cuba received the worst index ranking in the entire Western Hemisphere and is in the bottom eleven worldwide (#169 out of 180 countries).

According to Reporters without Borders,  “Freedom of information is extremely limited in Cuba, which is ranked lower in the index than any other country in the Americas. The government tolerates no independent press. Internet access is restricted and tightly controlled.” In addition, the international NGO points out Cuba’s “lack of media pluralism”, and the fact that “outspoken journalists and bloggers are still subjected to threats, smears, arrest and arbitrary detention.”
