For several weeks, all across Cuba, independent civil society groups have been hosting Reyes Magos cultural events benefiting children and families in their respective communities.
Unfortunately, the Foundation has been receiving multiple reports of harassment, repression, arbitrary arrests, and confiscating of toys, food, and decorations intended for innocent Cuban children and families, at the hand’s of the Cuban government’s state security apparatus.
The ongoing fear tactics, intimidation, oppression and arbitrary arrests by Cuba’s state security in order to impede independent civil society groups to peacefully gather, host and celebrate cultural, religious, and community events such as Reyes Magos and other gatherings throughout the year, are a clear violation of multiple articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and should cease immediately.
