Between late December 2014 and early January 2015, The Ladies in White along with several other activist groups in Cuba organized multiple Three Kings Day events across the island, including Havana, Matanzas, Santiago de Cuba, Holguin, Palma Soriano, Guantanamo, and Santa Clara. In total over 1000 children benefited from the events which included toys, food, and a festive atmosphere. At the Havana headquarters for The Ladies in White, over 4oo children along with their families participated. The events were supported by The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC) in collaboration with The Ladies in White and other activist groups throughout the country. The goal of these events is to provide a “light in a dark place” while continuing to empower Cuba’s independent civil society.
