On Friday, May 9th, the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC) held a press conference to unveil its latest special report titled “Foreign Investment in Socialist Cuba: Uncertain Real Profits for Foreign Capital and Continued Exploitation of the Labor Force.”
Specific findings of the report, authored by Dr. José Álvarez, Ph.D., Emeritus Professor, University of Florida, include an analysis of Cuba’s objective in providing a “peaceful labor force” to foreign investors, the exploitation of labor, and the breaking of current international agreements.
The study was based on Cuba’s New Foreign Investment Law as enacted by the Cuban Parliament on March 29th, 2014.
